The Big Island is not really known for its beaches, so we had to use our book and seek one out. This is Kekaha Kai, also known as Mahai'ula Beach. It was a great payoff at the end of a 2 mile, very bumpy, lava road. The very reason we rented a 4WD vehicle. It was well worth the effort and probably our best beach day the entire trip. This is not a very good snorkeling area, however, and the water was a bit murky. But warm and wonderful, anyway!
